Dawa M-health

Dr. Didier Lalaye has set up a low tech solution M-Health project in Chad to fight child mortality caused by infection of the Bilharzia worm. An easy to treat problem when caught in time. Estimates show that worldwide till 800,000 children die a year and many others are sick. Healthcare in Chad is underdeveloped. Dr Lalaye has set up a system to fight this illness in which local health carers, personnel of a (newly) equipped laboratory and a team of doctors in Ndjaména communicate through SSD technology. The most remote village children are now having access to medication and information about the illness. The results of the project are promising and will hopefully be extended to other regions.

Thus far the project has developed a great deal. Both e-microscopes and e-echography technologies have been donated by Philips. Dr Lalaye is now looking to finance a mobile laboratory.
